Public Health Solutions, the largest public health nonprofit serving New York City, inducted the First Lady of New York City, Chirlane McCray, into its Public Health Hall of Fame at its Health Reimagined 60th Anniversary Gala. The Hall of Fame honors extraordinary New Yorkers who have made an exceptional impact on the health of families and communities in New York City, and McCray is its first inductee.
Public Health Solutions hosted its 60th Anniversary Gala at Tribeca Rooftop. More than 270 guests attended to commemorate our long history in supporting vulnerable New York City families in achieving optimal health, and paying tribute to our honoree and first inductee into our Public Health Hall of Fame.
As of today, more than 2,300 children are in detention centers after being separated from their families at the U.S. border. Most of these children are under 13 years of age, and face significant short- and long-range developmental, mental and physical health issues related to these government actions.
Public Health Solutions, a city agency created to compile research on health-based initiatives, has focused its smoke-free efforts almost exclusively on the housing sector since 2009 after cigarettes had been driven from most of New York’s commercial and public buildings.
Public Health Solutions (PHS) is proud to launch a new innovation, the Food and Nutrition Services Bundle (FNS Bundle), funded by OneCity Health’s Innovation Award Program, to address food insecurity and nutrition in the Bronx.
Visit our Sunset Park Neighborhood WIC center! We provide nutrition education through sessions led by WIC nutritionists on healthy eating and physical activity, one-on-one breastfeeding support, checks to purchase nutritious foods, and referrals to other helpful services.
We are very sad to share that Dr. Victor Sidel, a former Public Health Solutions Board Member and a current Emeritus Board member, passed away recently. His life and career’s work in public health were impressive and noteworthy, and we were fortunate to have his talent on the PHS Board.
